Once again we are waking to frosts each morning. But with the sun a little higher each day, by early afternoon it is warm enough to strip to a t-shirt if you’re working in the sun.
Construction work continues apace in the nursery, but I’m stuck indoors frantically revising for two RHS exams this week – the final parts of my RHS Advanced. However I did sneak outside for a bit of photography yesterday…
This lovely little Iris unguicularis is just outside the back door.
And a couple of snowdrops for Brian. I think they are slightly different but I haven’t developed an eye in for the fine details of Galanthus species. The second one is quite a bit larger.

Thank you Sue, it’s difficult to say from this distance ! but the first may well be G.S.Arnott and will have a good scent, the second could be one of many, the little flare at the base of the inners signifies Galanthus gracilis in the parentage and it may be G.St Anne’s. I was in an area which was used for breeding snowdrops in the 30’s and 40’s (I think) on Saturday and there were a great number of interesting crosses, like many other plants they are not averse to a bit of nooky in the garden. Good fortune with the exams.
Love the Iris pic. The colors are great. Not much blooming in the southern USA at this time. Foliage is up but no blooms. Can’t wait.
