It’s only the 6th December and we’ve already had 7 nights of sub zero temperatures so far here in Cheshire. The greenhouse is holding up with the help of a valiant little fan heater, but the polytunnels have frozen over twice.

One model of climate change predicts that the Gulf Stream will slow down, bringing England a similar climate to Moscow, which is on the same latitude as London, but lacking the warming effect of this huge heat conveyor. Of course it’s nonsense to draw conclusions from a couple of winters, but it is cold – and last winter was too. So, could someone have a quick look and make sure the Gulf Stream is still switched on? Thanks.
