The clocks went back this morning at 2am. Now that I am at liberty to work the hours I choose, I am not going to complain about the change this year, since I can choose to start an hour earlier if I wish. But this doesn’t change the fact that the days are shortening, and very rapidly too.
So I spent the extra hour moving my desk so that it is now next to a very large north-facing window (great for lots of light with no glare). My new view looks out onto a paved area surrounded by beech hedges and tall shrubs with a slender view through an arch, between two beds and right through to the orchard. The desk was bathed in soft light all day and I feel better already.

Hi Sue,
Now that the nursery is closed for the winter, it would be really interesting to know what goes on behind the scenes. What takes up your time? What do your staff do in the winter months? and why does the nursery close while garden centres don’t? What’s the crucial difference?
Still think yours is the best gardening blog on the web …
The other Sue
Hi Sue and thank you for the extraordinary compliment! And for the suggestion for next blog topic..
You get the prize for best pictures though – your ghostly copier shots are fantastic.
