Some would say I’ve been twittering on for years, but this time it’s for a good reason.
This year’s Tatton Show project is The Lunch Hour Garden, co-designed by my friend and garden landscaper Isabelle Brooke, and myself. (Sponsored by top IT secuity company Network Defence and Marshalls plc) It’s intended as an office garden, in which stressed-out, over air-conditioned office workers can get some fresh air, a whiff of greenery and probably a slightly damp bum.
To aid the search, I’ll be wittering on Twitter during the build and the show, bringing daily updates about the build and the garden here Sue Beesley at Tatton. So, follow the build, and if you know of a project which might make good use of the garden after the show, let me know.

Hi Sue,
I'd like to put forward Levenshulme as a place for your garden. Although it doesn't quite fit your lunch hour brief we do have a community garden in the making at the site of the old community centre the local council ran into the ground and knocked down. The project started 'guerilla gardening' style by planting wild flowers seeds and people splitting stuff from there gardens. The council ordered us to stop work on the site late last year and said they would give us a 2 year licence if we formalised the group. – we did our part they still haven't done theirs! – (surprise surprise) So work has basically stopped for the time being – but the wild plants are doing there bit!
I've just tried phoning the council again but no-one is returning my calls.
Anyway here's some photos and details at our website:http://slugsociety.wetpaint.com/
Our site is an open public site in an inner city residential area. Being sensible/realistic about it – this may put your donated garden at risk.
We do have another community garden project happening on a local allotment site. This would have the benefit of being in an enclosure and used by anyone who has an genuine interest in community gardening. – this is also a possibility.
So, yes! In Levenshulme we defo have a place for your lovely garden to go should you wish to choose us. Good luck with the show! Jamie S.L.U.G.
Hello Jamie,
Interesting option! I'll post some pictures of the garden later in the week and you can see what you think.
I'm not precious about the garden – I think if you improve people's environments they tend to respond well. We do need council approval of course, so if you'd like to give them these blog details and my email address I'll be happy to talk to them – perhaps after the show as things are naturally a bit frantic at the moment.
Thanks
Hi Sue,
The council approval is not going to come through in time, so we are going Lell for Heather to try and win your garden for the Levenshulme Community Allotment Project. We've gathered the funding and got the volunteers lined up to hire a van to come and pick up the garden! – (should we win) Everyone's really excited about it – we've planted your plan on ours and you can get a quick look (over a cuppa) at this link on the SLUG website when you get a minute:

We'll put some photo's up too – asap.
Let's hope the rain holds off a bit for your build and the show.
Jamie
